Why most SEO attempts fail

Posted on 12.27.07 @ 12:39 am

There are people out there that try incredibly hard to achieve a certain ranking. They do everything perfect according to standard search engine algorithm standards. These people have the key term they are going for in their back links, they have the key term in the text, they basically do exactly what should land them a hot spot on the serps.

The problem is…if these people are doing everything so perfectly why aren’t they getting the ranks they want so badly? The answer is search engines are getting smarter and smarter. Their bots know what is going on when a site is 100% perfect. What does this mean then?

This means people that design websites need to design websites for the people that will be surfing them, not the bots that will be spidering them. SE’s take into consideration the amount of time a person stays on your site among other things, so this plays a key role. Think about this the next time you see a joe schmoe site that is ranked better then your ace site. I guarantee you that is why you aren’t pulling the hits while the other site is yanking in cash and visits.

The Power Of Online Investors

Posted on 12.17.07 @ 12:22 am

It is without a doubt common knowledge that if you have someone investing money into your outfit you have a higher chance of success. I have had sites that I started way back when that if I had investors they would have picked up a lot faster. When I had zero money I started several sites that focused around a certain niche. I did everything the ghetto way. Meaning I didn’t buy links, I didn’t buy advertising, I didn’t even buy scripts because I just didn’t have the money. Thanks to my hard work I managed to get those sites ranked and pulling revenue which opened me up to a world that I never would have imagined. Thanks to my hard work, something that is easily shown, I have companies coming at me offering me very substantial amounts of money in return for helping them get their projects up and running or for me running their projects for them. I must admit they were right when they said that the rich have an easier time getting richer, it can be applied to the online world, the people that run sites with high traffic have a much easier time making more sites that have substantial amounts of traffic.

So work hard whenever you are making sites or find companies that you can talk into backing you and enjoy the perks of having startup capital. Not to mention this is a business. It might be worth it to register a business license and get a business credit card or loan to replace the investors money if you can’t find anyone to sign on. You can do this the hard way, but lets face it, your success rate will be much higher once you plan something out and get some revenue to help you get running.

The Power of Private ad sales

Posted on 12.14.07 @ 9:13 pm

It is no secret that private ad sales are the place to make the most money when it comes to online revenues and business. Actually, surprisingly enough, majority of the people that attempt to make money online don’t do private ad sales, which is, in my opinion a major mistake? If you guys have ever looked at my monthly earnings report then you know for a fact that majority of my revenues come from private ad sales.

When you sale through advertising companies like adsense (don’t take this wrong, I love adsense etc) but they take a BUNCH of the revenue. Rightly so since they are doing the work of finding advertisers.

When I started doing my private ad sales on my many projects that I have, I had a drastic income jump. The advertisers loved the space so much that it was constantly sold out and in turn I got to raise my prices and make even more. So being your own advertising manager is definitely the way to go. It definitely helps.

This is the best way to make money online, unfortunately it is also a lot of work. So use ad companies until you get your site built (at least all of the hard stuff). Then slowly integrate the selling of ad space yourself and then enjoy the increased revenues.

BTW: I know that there are probably lots of you that have questions, so I am going to get a email address setup for this site tomorrow (Saturday Dec, 15) so that you guys can write in and I can be sure to answer the questions that you have!

Entrecard is a new blogger tool that enables bloggers to exchange advertising space and in turn grow their sites. A very nice idea if I must say so myself. The cool thing about it is that it also works. Unlike things like blogrush etc this one genuinely generates traffic to your site and brings dedicated readers that will be interested in what you have to say. So Click the link above and check them out and enjoy free advertising and traffic exchange. It’s one of the best ways to grow a new blog!

Link selling and why you shouldn’t openly do it.

Posted on 12.12.07 @ 12:16 pm

Selling link spots is fine, google doesn’t mind if you sell a text link on your website. That is as long as the links you are selling use the rel=”nofollow” tag. They do this because they don’t want you passing link juice on to other sites that didn’t earn it. So in stupid terms it means, you can open sell link spots as long as you are only providing traffic, if you are providing seo help with that link then you will get your site devalued a lot.

This doesn’t mean don’t sell your hard links, as we all know that is a good way to bring in some nice revenue. Just don’t opely do it. If you have to do it then contact people in person to see if they will sell you one orĀ  vice versa. Don’t openly post on a message board that you are looking to buy or sell hardlinks because then they will start watching what you do to see if things look legit. Think I’m kidding? Try me, google has a team of people that have the sole purpose of making sure the search engines are getting the right sites listed.

So take my advice and follow the above and you should be fine!

Fallbacks to Web Entrepreneurship

Normally I only talk about the positives of working online. That is because for the most part there are nothing but positives (besides the obvious issues of cabin fever etc). Last night I was working on my main rig just relaxing minding my own business. The machine was running like a champ. After all it is a quad core intel machine that is decked out from the floor up, but for some reason when I woke up this morning to start trucking away on work I was brought to my knees. The machine had an error message on it that leads you to believe one of three things has happened.

1. The machine got a bug while you were sleeping

2. The machine had a piece of hardware go bad

3. The machine just had windows wig out on it (thanks Bill!)

Since the machine is brand new and has no spyware on it or anything else malicious and the hardware all checked up it was option #3. Thanks to a shitty operating system (which is still better then a lot of the alternatives as far as ease of use for random things is) I am spending my friday reloading windows and reinstalling the applications I use. Thank God my system runs off of three different harddrives depending on what im doing so I still have all of my web work and media on the rig.

Linux is looking more and more appealing to me with every passing day.

Cheers,

Mike

Play Time Again

I am in the process of searching for a project car to play with. I am looking for a 240sx that I can pop a supra motor into. If you haven’t gathered already cars are one of my major weaknesses. I’m not talking about big expensive Mercedes or BMW’s I’m talking Japanese tuner cars and even some American based ones.

I currently have a SRT-4 that I am strongly considering putting a 50 trim turbo on to bump her up to about 430 WHP and while I was at it I was thinking of building something RWD. I would build a supra but those things are fucking boats (heavy as fuck) and would much rather have something lighter but capable of making the same power. What better way to do that then to take a drift king vehicle (the Nissan 240sx) and put the big dawg motor in it? (Toyota Supras are called “Big Dawgs” because they have massive top end and can make a ton of power) If you have any ideas hit me up via icq 59975954

Brute Force Link Building

Posted on 12.06.07 @ 12:41 pm

In this day and age we have to deal with something called Brute Force Link Building. What exactly is this you might ask? This is the process of building massive links to your site using the keywords you want to rank for on the search engines in a manner to where even if the site is not properly search engine optimized it will still do well.

Obviously the better your site is SEO’d the better your site will rank for those terms when you follow suit and do the same thing in order to maintain your monthly revenue streams. It’s sad to see that search engines are unable to tell what sites are good and what sites are not based on content and update time instead they just use the raw number of backlinks with a little bit of everything else mixed in.
